Observatory Vendors

There are a lot of choices for an observatory.  The vendors listed here are the ones I spent a lot of time exploring.

Ash Dome

Conventional metal domes aimed more at the professional institutions.

They make a one piece poly dome, conventional slit.  Also have a nice selection of buildings.

Pier Tech

Tele-Station - A nifty prefab roll-off roof observatory

Originally built roll-off roof observatories, then got into selling plans and hardware for them.  Still their prime money maker.

In the mid 2000s, they introduced the SkyShed POD.  It is a double wall polyethylene rotating clamshell.  Inside diameter is about 7.5 feet.  They have a 12 footer in the final design stages.

Technical Innovations

Makers of the RoboDome.  They have conventional fiberglass domes of 3, 6, 10 and 15 feet.  Probably the easiest to automate.

Pier Tech

Fixed height and adjustable piers.

A simple, tubular steel pier custom made to your required height.  Available in diameters to 8.5 inches.

Technical Innovations

The makers of RoboFocus.  Note: they have separate web sites for RoboFocus and their domes.
